Panasonic H1 Tablet Computer
This is a new, rugged device that offers great bang for the buck.
Each year, customers return about 10% of
their mobile computing devices to manufacturers. By comparison,
Panasonic Toughbook computers have a remarkably low annual return rate -- only 2% -- even on damaged devices. These computers aren't just sitting on someone's desk: They're out in the wind, rain, cold and hot weather, and they get dropped on a fairly regular basis.
If you've had issues with breakage in the past, the H1 is a great choice. Rugged,
lightweight and sealed to a robust IP 65 rating, this device works well
in everything from hospitals and retail stores to industrial
facilities.
We like that it:
- Comes
standard with built-in RFID reader, 2MP camera, full-resolution
fingerprint reader, contact-less smartcard reader, 802.11 a/b/g/draft-n
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®
- Comes with a standard 3-year limited warranty

Panasonic U1 Handheld
Panasonic Toughbook enters into the handheld arena with their new U1 handheld!
If you've needed more from
your handhelds -- including a full QWERTY keypad in an ultra-durable form
factor -- the U1 could be just what you're looking for.
The U1
bridges the gap between full OS tablets (that are often too large for certain field applications)
and handheld 1/4 VGA devices (which often run on a less-than-robust Windows Mobile platform).
We like that it:
- Has a nine-hour battery
life in our testing
- Has an ultra-rugged Military-Standard 810G durability rating,
- Comes with great integrated options: barcode and fingerprint readers, camera, GPS, and Gobi™ mobile broadband for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks
- Is 6-foot
drop-
and IP65-certified
- Is an ultra lightweight 2.3 lbs
The U1 has an
Intel®
Processor, hot-swappable twin Li-Ion batteries, a Solid State Drive,
and a 5.6" LED touchscreen — sunlight viewable with 1024 x 600 WSVGA
